I had approached Amigos for Christo, one of our close cooperating Christian outreach programs, for two bikes for children with disabilities to get to school, and was informed of a program they were running at this time. The program involves up to 8 bikes for a project center, and is for individuals with significant needs for transport.
The program has the families pay a monthly installment of 50 cordabas a month for one year, at which time the bike will be theirs free and clear. This is a total of about $30 in a year for bikes valuing $300.
We applied for 8 bikes, and were granted all 8 bikes.
Two are to be used by two disabled children so that they can attend school. Both are entering 1st grade.
The others are going to be used by health care workers, and teachers who volunteer in our programs, and for our assistant that runs errands for the project.
This will be a great help for those involved!
